At the beginning of the 18th to the 19th century, two revolutions occurred the Industrial and Agricultural which caused a significant amount of people to move from the countryside to the city, changing many agrarian lifestyles. Many moved into the city of London where it was overcrowded, filthy and full of diseases. These revolutions allowed many new machines to be invented and improved which helped manufacture goods as well as the planting of crops.

The new farming techniques and inventions led to a huge increase of food production which also helped with the population growth because of the large surplus amount of food produced.
The Industrial revolution was the revolution where changes in manufacturing and transportation began. This meant that manufacturing goods would be faster because many goods like steel and clothing would be mass manufactured. The three main types of transportations used during the Industrial revolution were waterways, roads, and railroads. The use of these transports meant that these goods could be sold in many places where great profit would had been accumulated. This movement brought many changes but not all were good. Many families moved to city or to different countries, abandoning their countryside lifestyle, the city then became congested which resulted to countless numbers of people living in slum conditions.
