Thanksgiving is a national holiday in the United States and oddly in Canada. It came about when the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth rock and Squanto and other Natives taught them how to hunt and harvest food to survive. When people think of Thanksgiving they think of the Macy’s Parade, turkey, family, food, football, and tradition. Well, that is exactly why my family celebrates Thanksgiving on the fourth Wednesday before instead of the traditional fourth Thursday of November. We celebrate on the Wednesday because due to my late Aunt Linda being on dialysis and being as mobile as she wanted due to health issues and the certain times she had to eat. So in order to keep our family celebrating together our Thanksgiving was celebrated one day early and still is. Sadly, my aunt passed away in 2010 after her long and hard struggle with her health. Thanksgiving was and will, always be my favorite holiday due to the abundance of food and family members it brings and also the time and weather changes that comes along with it. The symbolic aspect of my favorite holiday being Thanksgiving because of the most important things in life & how it lets all of my family members and I to get together at least once out of the year and truly get to let each other know how thankful for one another and every moment, positive or negative, that we had shared since the prior year. Although not all of my family members may be physically able to attend or participate in our Thanksgiving festivities, I know that in spirit, all of our sweet angels, especially Aunt Linda, are having a ball with the rest of us. If heaven had phones my phone bill would cost more than my tuition, but I would not mind because being able to hear at least one more breath or a simple uttering of a single word of my guardian angel would make me feel like a kid on
