As I’ve looked around and dug up information about my family, naturally I’ve noticed a lot of similarities between relatives. What one grandparent may have, an aunt may also. These connections didn’t strike me as particularly surprising, but it was a wake up call on things I need to focus on as I grow. I may not share the same lifestyles as a lot of my relatives, and have grown up in a completely different environment from them, but it’s still very much worth looking into. Not to mention, there are a few conditions and diseases that I haven’t heard very much about, and though they may not directly affect me, I still think it’s important to educate myself on them. So, I’ll be doing just that.

There are lots of different ways out there that could give you asthma, though most commonly it is genetic, so if you have relatives who have it, you may likely get it as well. What is asthma? It is a condition in which your airway becomes inflamed and narrow when you breathe. It then produces extra mucus, increasing the difficulty. If you have asthma, it’s typically pretty easy to figure it out. You may have times when it is difficult to breathe, chest pains, a painful cough, or even a wheezing noise when you breathe in and out. It is a condition that ebbs and flows, and though a lifetime condition, if treated correctly it can affect you very little, or you may go years without any severe symptoms. Inhalants prescribed by doctors help this chronic disease, as well as other forms inhalants for self-treatment. Unfortunately, though a disease that one can live with, it is also just as easily fatal. Asthma attacks occur when the symptoms described above become more severe that it becomes very difficult or even impossible to breathe.
