Have you been ever swimming in the deep blue waves of the ocean when you see something flash by? Ever thought that something brushed your foot from under the deep blue waves? Every tried to tell yourself that you're imagining things, but you know you not. Maybe there is a mythical explanation. If you look closer, a mermaid just might be hiding in the seaweed below. Throughout History, there have been legends of mermaids, different types of mermaids, and many sightings. Throughout history, there have been many different legends of mermaids. On Christopher Columbus's voyage across the seas, he claims to have seen a mermaid himself. Some people think that this is false, saying that the sailors became drunk on rum and mistook a manity for a mermaid. Another sighting at a similar time to Christopher Columbus's sighting was when Henry Hudson also claimed to have sighted mermaids on one of his voyages. He claims that “ this morning, one of our companie looking over board saw a mermaid, and calling up some companie to see her,one more came up, and by that time she was come close to the ship’s side…” (Henry Hudson 13). This sighting is one of many historical sightings, but it was one of the few that was recorded. If you fast forward to the present, you’ll find that a team of geologists fond parts of a skeletal system inside a dead great white shark. The body was reported to have hands and a human like skull. Then recently, this team also caught on video a mermaid like creature that bumped into their submarine in Greenland.
