My grandparents moved to Arizona a few years ago. They moved to Arizona because they got so sick of the weather in Minnesota! In Minnesota there was a snowstorm that was as bad as a big blue hungry bear, and you’re lunch!(Alliteration, Figurative Language) While in Arizona my Papa Zimmer discovered a fun sport that he would like to play, this sport is pickleball. Pickleball in Sun City is a big sport. My grandpa told me pickleball is like big table tennis (but not tennis). You have a large paddle and you use a ball that is slightly larger wiffleball. In pickleball you can run towards the ball, swing as hard as you can, and SMACK! To me it mostly sounded like hit the ball to the left, hit the ball to the right, hit the ball to the opponent, hit the ball to the corner, and hit the ball towards the opponent again.(Repetition for Effect) When I said it does not sound hard, I was mistaken, after about thirty minutes of playing you become as sweaty as a firefighter in the desert!(Simile) We were drenched and so were my parents when they had played. I then stopped for a moment, took a nice long drink of my water, thought about the great time that we just had, and left, straight out the door with a wide smile on my face.(Expanded Moment) We had a great time and were ready for ice cold showers.
The next day we went to play pickleball again and there was a tournament going on! Well tournament is an overstatement, it was more of a gathering, but it was still cool.(Humor) We got to see pretty good players face off. When we got to get on a court my Papa Zimmer taught me how to put spin on the ball. The game became even more fun than before! Putting spin on the ball was hard at first, but I finally got the hang of it.
Playing pickleball with my Papa Zimmer is one of those great-moments-that-you-will-remember-for-ever kind of moments for me, and it always will be.(Hyphenated Modifier) We had many great times playing pickleball and I hope that we have many more soon, while playing pickleball with my Papa Zimmer.(Full Circle
