Cervical laser surgery is a procedure that uses a focused beam of light (laser) to shrink, destroy, or remove tissue from the cervix. You may have this surgery if:
You have a tumor in your cervix.
You have abnormal cells in your cervix that are an early sign of cancer.
Tissue from your cervix is to be tested for signs of disease.
Tell a health care provider about:

All medicines you are taking, including vitamins, herbs, eye drops, creams, and over-the-counter medicines.
Any problems you or family members have had with anesthetic medicines.

For at least 24 hours before the procedure, do not:

To lower your risk of infection, your health care team will wash or sanitize their hands.
You will lie on your back with your feet raised in foot rests.
A device called a speculum will be put into your vagina to hold it open.
