To start off I’m going to be talking about the year they were founded and when the franchise start. The Vikings were founded on January 28, 1960. Their first season started in 1961. The Vikings became the team name because of Bart Rose, the GM of the Vikings at the time, recommended the team name to the Board of Directors and it was selected because it represented both an aggressive person who had the will to win and it also represented Nordic tradition in the Northern Midwest.
