I am here to tell you about the most awarded female act in music history. Whitney Elizabeth Houston was an American singer, actress, producer, and model. Houston is one of pop music's best-selling music sensations of all time selling more than two million records worldwide. She released seven studio albums and two soundtrack albums for motion pictures. All of which have diamond, multi-platinum, platinum or gold certification. Whitney was born on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey. Many said that she was practically destined from birth to become a music sensation. As the daughter of gospel and soul singer Cissy Houston, Whitney was more noticed than most other young vocalists. As a child, Whitney was able to wow audiences with her voice. Houston continued to excel in her career. In 1992, she transferred to the acting world to star as the female lead in The Bodyguard with male lead Kevin Costner. She then moved to the small screen in 1997, producing and playing the Fairy Godmother to Brandy’s Cinderella in a Wonderful World of Disney remake of Cinderella. But she still found a way to add her special Whitney touch. She then covered Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” which became her biggest hit in her career. It resulted in her winning three Grammys including Album of the Year and Record of the Year. In 1998, she released My Love is Your Love, her first non-soundtrack studio album in years. The following year, she did an interview about her involvement with alcohol, drugs, cocaine, and marijuana in a special edition of ABC’s Primetime with Diane Sawyer. In the late 1900s and 2000s, her increasingly rocky marriage and drug and health problems began to derail her career.
