I, Araceli Santana , as chair person of the CA Parole Board, hereby acknowledge the decision of this parole board in the following decision: This parole board recommends parole for inmate OJ Simpson. The following factors were weighted and discussed in making this decision.
The case of inmate OJ Simpson concerns a Las Vegas armed robbery and kidnapping committed by Simpson himself along with Michael McClinton, Charlie Ehrlich, Tom Riccio, Walter Alexander, Clarence Stewart and Charles Cashmore as accomplices. This incident, which occured in the Palace Station Hotel and Casino, involved recovering sports memorabilia from the former football star’s past in which Simpson deemed “personal artifacts.” Simpson, along with the men previously mentioned, entered hotel room 1203 of Al Beardsley and Bruce Fromong, the two sellers, armed with guns as they surprised the two men. The board has come to believe such as Simpson has not had any disciplinary write ups nor issues with others in his near five years of incarceration. In addition to the fact that Simpson has also scored a three in his risk assessment, being the low risk inmate category, in which the board believes will continue to be so once on parole. The next factor the board came to consider was Simpson’s previous record of violence. The board has come to acknowledge that Simpson contains an evident record of violence concerning his prior and deceased wife Nicole Brown Simpson. Upon such are records indicating domestic abuse towards Nicole by Simpson. The atrocious record did present the board with concerns, however seeing as such incidents occured over two decades ago, the board remains hopeful that such incidents will not occur due to Simpson’s time and programs taken while in custody.
