Internal And External Conflicts In The Phantom Of The Opera

After reading The Phantom of the Opera, there were many inner and outer conflicts between the characters. Out of many conflicts there was one that really stood out to me. When I was done reading, I saw a inner and outer conflict between the Phantom and Carlotta, the new manager's wife (Cholet). The Phantom has lived under the opera house his entire life and it became his domain. The Phantom also covers his face with a mask. The reason why he wears a mask and stays under the opera house is because he has a monstrous looking face. After his mother died, he was abandoned as a child due to his disfigured face.If anyone saw the Phantom’s face, then you would die. Also he would never leave his domain. Since the Phantom always stayed in his domain he was always lonely, but when Christine came he showed his inner self. He was very caring, gentle, and unselfish. When Christine came, he was very kind to give her singing lessons unlike Carlotta. After Christine had the goblet, she went on stage to go sing but because of the goblet her voice became weak and everyone in the audience began to boo. The Phantom heard about the incident so he cuts some ropes to drop the chandelier to make a huge crash. After the crash the Phantom takes Christine to his domain. While Christine is unconscious, the Phantom goes to Carlotta’s dressing room. “Hello Carlotta.(She turns and sees him in a open wall panel) I have something for you.(Carries a trunk to her) I hope it's to your liking.
