" More Privacy, More Trust

The Internet has changed the lives of everyone since the World Wide Web was publicly made available in 1991. Society has come a long way in a little over fifteen years with the Internet. Movie watchers can download their favorite movies in mere seconds. Book lovers can download thousands of novels to enjoy at their leisure. However, the Internet has been used to do a lot of bad as well. Terrorist groups recruit members online through propaganda. Users of the dark net buy and sell illegal drugs, weapons, pornography, and illicit services. This good and bad leaves the U.S. government to monitor the Internet and dispose of the bad services. Though the Internet should be monitored, is the government too involved in the usage of the Internet?

Internet spying by the government actually makes Web users feel more threatened than protected. Though the Internet should be monitored, the government and large business outlets (Google, Facebook, etc.) should not be allowed to track a user’s everyday dealings. Like the Fourth Amendment states, “no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation”. The Web is supposed to be a place for individuals to get away from the real world and relax.
