There are various ways to interpret the word Terrorism, but just by looking at the word, it hints that the word is related to terror. There is no universally accepted definition of Terrorism however, the working definition of “terrorism” is found in the Code of Federal Regulations, which defines the activity as “the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.” The global terrorism index also states that in order to be included as a terrorist act, the act has to be intentional act of violence or threat of violence by non-state actor. Terrorism brings not only the physical act of an attack, but also the psychological impact it brings to the society for many years after. There are lots of terrorist groups in the world. Some are not really known to the public and some are well known to the society. One of the most dangerous and horrifying terrorist group that is currently active is called the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). This terrorist group brings so much attention to the public which is a big issue to international security. The United States are currently working on various ways, such as foreign aid and policies, to defeat and terminate the ISIS, however these methods they are using seems to be ineffective against these terrorists since they are becoming more influential and more threatening every
