In order to solve these competencies issues, strategies are required. Research was conducted on these two competencies to search for the best evidence-informed strategy interventions. The search terms used were interprofessional collaboration, interprofessional communication, team functioning and teamwork. The inclusion criteria was intervention studies which were published within the last five years and that were applicable to team functioning or interprofessional communication. The search started in the summaries level of evidence. The first strategy for team functioning was found within the reference list of a best practice guideline. No evidences were found within the synopses of syntheses level of evidence. The next level of evidence was …show more content…
The results demonstrated that students from the intervention group had higher and clearer communication content as compared to the control group with p-values of 0.001 (Marshall, Harrison and Flanagan, 2009). Strengths of this study were that the participants randomized, and the communication results were measured blindly without bias by investigators. Limitations of this study were that only medical students participated and there was no follow up on how well the students internalized the training. Effective communication and teamwork skills are important to develop as a nursing student. Personally, I feel that I have not been well prepared to work with other interprofessionals. I have only experienced two interprofessional educational opportunities. I think that the strategies I found such as team training and interprofessional education would be beneficial for both senior students and new healthcare providers. These strategies give interprofessionals the opportunity to build good working relationships with each other and develop effective communication. I have also gained more values of interprofessional collaboration after this exercise. Now I am much more motivated to try and be a part of the team at my clinical
