The most frequently asked question among social workers and family members of victims who are victims of domestic violence is “Why stay?”. Obviously, if you ask yourself what you would do in that position you would answer “Get Out Quick”, but as it turns out the decision is not that simple. The issue lies with the victim themselves, statistics show that there are a number of common influences that lead women to stay. The concept of “intersectionality” helps to explain how these influences are applicable to women who are either calling for safety or just need help getting out.
