Interview With Youth Ministry

Youth ministry is an area of the church that continues to develop and grow extremely over time. It has become a key part of most churches in getting middle school and high school aged children involved in the church, incorporating teaching them Biblical principles. I interviewed two different people involved in my old youth group to talk about different challenges and areas of growth they see within their youth group. The two people I interviewed are the youth pastor (Christine Martin) and a youth student (Areina Wilson) of the youth group, Fusion, at Scottsdale Worship Center church. I was a youth student at this church for three years and then became a youth leader for three years following high school, so I have known both of these women for a long time. Indeed, it was interesting to see that both the youth pastor and the student I interviewed within this youth ministry noticed the same things that could be improved to make the ministry thrive even more. The youth student answered this question of improving an aspect of the youth group by stating that she wishes there were to be more sermons within the services and less small groups. This statement from the student proves that students are observing everything their pastor does. This is true because when I interviewed the youth pastor about what she could improve on within her ministry, it was on her ability to speak or preach a good message to both seasoned students and newcomers of the youth group. It is important to communicate the strengths and the weaknesses with the students and other leaders in the youth group because that’s what makes a ministry thrive from a gospel
