In chapter 11, Krakauer highlights Chris McCandless’s backgrounds and investigates on the question, What lead him to the disconnection to his family? Krakauer also goes further into McCandless’s family featuring Walt McCandless and Billie McCandless. Walt and Billie were hardworking, and they were smart people.
