Intuitive Leadership
Tony Dungy might be known as the head coach that took Peyton Manning to the super bowl in 2007. He was also a talk show host where he voiced his opinions on NFL football. Not many know what formed the devout man behind all of this. He had grown up with two very strict parents that had set the mold for one extremely impactful individual. In Quite Strength it shows you what all had happened to him before his well-known years as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.
When he was growing up his dad told asked him the question does yelling really get your point across better? Setting high moral standards for Tony into his teen years where he developed into an incredible athlete. Dungy became well known in football and basketball in high school, but he went on to college as a quarterback for the University of Minnesota. He finished four years here and sought out to try his luck in the National Football League. He wasn’t the best quarterback in college football so he never got called on draft day. In the next few days he was asked to come play in the defensive backfield for the Steelers. He made the team as a defensive back and acquired a ring in his years of playing for with them although he never really got to see the field on game day.
Having experience on both sides of the ball defensive and offensive game him a great foundation to become a head coach. He started his coaching career back at his old College the University of Minnesota and then moved to the Pittsburg Steelers his old NFL team. Then coached for two other NFL teams he just seemed like he had the right connections in all the right places. People spread his name as being one of the most trusted and hardworking person they had ever known. So he scored his first Head coaching job at Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He took this team to the NFC title game but could never make it all the way so he was fired.
