The presence of the invasive species in the environment is mostly linked to the human activities or human actions. The species are linked to the alteration of the new environment that they are brought in by the human beings. Some are brought into the environment to be used as human food and also for aesthetic purposes. The native species are always susceptible to the various pests and parasites that affect it in the environment that they are found in. The invasive species , on the other hand tend to be more tolerant to the pests weeds and herbicides. The tolerance makes the invasive species to grow within the environment more than the resident species would. Most of the invasive species tend to outcompete the resident species, and at times they manage to fully drive them out of the habitat which affects the integrity of the ecosystem. The effect of the invasive species on the residential species leads to the degradation of the environment. This study attempts to give enough information about the invasive species, whether they are harmful to the environment, the types of invasive species and the characteristics of invasive species with an aim of bringing the attention of people to the environmental issues regarding the species.
