Within this quote, we see multiple examples of struggles this particular character in facing throughout the novel. In Invisible Monsters, there are multiple identities throughout the story between Brandy, the narrator, and Seth. The oxford English Dictionary defines “Identity” simply as who someone is. Our narrator is coping with her accident as well as being influenced by Brandy to change. Then go out and sell them on the street, they are becoming very well known for their new found careers. They mostly steal opiates or female hormones (which Seth is on a strict diet of thanks to Brandy). Because of this, he is starting to develop breasts, his beard is not growing as well, he has a messed up cornea and now he cannot wear his contact lenses without them popping out. So, basically, he has all of these female hormones in his system and his testosterone levels are super low so he is starting to turn into a woman. Basically the narrator is doing this because she is mad at him. She says that he still cannot meet her eyes and they have both been traveling with Brandy for several weeks. Brandy Alexander gives Manus and the narrator new “identities and backgrounds.” She names Manus Ellis Island and the narrator Daisy St. Patience along with several other ridiculous names too. There is a specific part in the book where it tells us how she really feels. When they are on the space needle is when all truth comes out. And then from what I read, the narrator writes on her card: “I love Seth Thomas so much I have to destroy him. I overcompensate by worshipping the queen supreme. Seth will never love me. No one will ever love me again.” Once Brandy reaches for the card, the narrator kisses it herself with the lips she does not have and
