The two adverts I’m going to compare are for ‘IPod 5th generation’ by Apple. Apple is a very successful company which was founded April 1, 1976 and since then they have released many successful products. It has just less than 400 retail stores world-wide. It is now one of the most desirable and recognised super-brands in the world. Apple is also the most earning consumer electronic company in the world, last year their revenue was over $116,371,000,000 which is more than Microsoft and Google combined. One of the most popular products made by Apple is the iPod. It was first sold in 2001, and Apple sold over 100 million in six years. All iPods can play music. The most recent iPod Touch, which has a high quality LED screen, can take and show quality pictures, record, and view and edit high definition videos, use the Internet for features such as e-mail, gaming, and blogging, record word and voice memos, and even get office work done.
When I first saw the two adverts my first impression was very positive. The array of colours stood out which was eye-catching. This connotes that the devise is a joyful and fun piece of equipment to carry with you when you’re out and about. The adverts looked very clean and polished and also showed the product very well.
The print advert shows a variety of iPods with different games open. This connotes that the IPod is not only for music and can be used in different ways. The print advert has a clean white back-ground which makes the product stand out. There’s no strap-line because the super brand ‘Apple’ is a famous and well-known brand. The IPods are being tilted by what seems like male fingers. This tells the audience that this devise can be rotated or tilted to their advantage. The IPod has earphones plugged in which shows this devise can be used to listen to music.
The TV advert shows a finger playing a song on the iPod touch. This shows the audience that this product is touch screen and also good for listening music on it. The IPods are bouncing up and around. This connotes that the devise is a joyful piece of technology to have with you. The advert also shows the variety of different colours which the IPod comes in. this
