The poem Life is Fine, is a poem written by American poet, Langston Hughes. Hughes uses repetition and verbal irony throughout the poem. The poems underlying message seems to be that his life may not be perfect, but he will persevere and overcome. We all go through things, it's just a matter of how you react.

Hughes uses repetition to get his point across. It almost seems as if he's trying to not only convince the reader that his life is fine, but he is also trying to convince himself. In the poem, at the beginning of each stanza, he says, "life is fine", but giving the circumstances back then, I don't believe life really is fine. Hughes also uses verbal irony throughout the poem.
