Beowulf is a very old narrative passed down through countless generations of storytellers. It is hundreds of years old and it tells the tale of Beowulf, a young but very brave and courageous warrior who helped all and feared none. He is greatly remembered by the good deeds he has done to help out his fellow man in need. Although nobody is perfect, Beowulf is still making mistakes in his life like everybody else has and there are probably some people that personally do not like him. These little things, however can not overcome all the good he has done. It is firmly believed that he is truly a hero because of his honor, courage, and selflessness. One reason that Beowulf is truly a hero is because that he sacrificed his life for the good of his people. At the beginning of his fight with the dragon he knew that the odds were against him but he stuck with it. He pushed on and fought until the dragon was dead, unfortunately the dragon did not go alone bringing Beowulf down with him. A huge memorial was built on the beach for all voyagers to see as they passed. His soldiers that once fought for him rode around it and told stories about all of his courageous acts, like defeating Grendel and his mother, or when he killed the sea monsters during the middle of a race. Only heroes get remembered the way that Beowulf was. All in all I think that it is safe to say that Beowulf is truly considered a hero. He helped out a countless number of people risking his own life each and every time. He did not only do it for the fame, but for the need of the people. If he was needed he came and got the job done. Even after his death, he was still honored by many as his memorial was built. Every time that it is seen people still remember all the heroic tasks that he has
