Is Facebook Inherently Good or Bad?
Facebook, the most visited social networking site which is used by almost everyone, regardless of their age. Facebook has a lot to offer to its users and that is why, it has become way too much popular in a short period of time. People spend a considerable amount of time using this website. But is that worth it? Although Facebook has provided a platform for people to keep in touch with others which would have otherwise been really hard, I think it is just a waste of time.
Facebook itself might not be bad for some reasons, but the time people are wasting on it, makes it worthless. We can see that; reasonable number of people are addicted to Facebook. …show more content…
No one is safe in the cyber world unless they know about it. We have seen a lot of cyber bullies which makes the internet world so dangerous. People are not safe on Facebook. There are a lot of cases where people have become the victim of it. According to website called dailymail.co.uk, " Teenager Ashleigh Hall was murdered by serial rapist Peter Chapman after he groomed her on the Facebook." This statement clarifies that even though we are meeting people behind the computers on digital world, we are totally in risk of getting into trouble. There was this man who was found using Facebook with fake name and he committed a crime with that same name. This is the why Facebook is bad.
However, looking at all its disadvantages, we cannot neglect its brighter side. Facebook offers a lot to its users if they use it wisely. First thing is that it is free. Facebook allows us to communicate and keep in touch with our near and dear ones. Lately, Facebook even allows us to call and text to our friends and families. Initially, we could post pictures, update status, make new friends and comment on posts, but there are a lot of amazing things such as posting live videos that can be done with the help of …show more content…
If used rationally, we can use Facebook as a platform to share the information. As we can share the information, we can ask for opinions and share ideas between one another. For instance, students can share class activities on the Facebook group which is easy to access if anyone is absent in the class. Similarly, for some research, Facebook allows users to make a survey with the help of multiple choice questions which is very beneficial because most importantly, it saves time. If any of our friends or family members are far away from us, Facebook can be a medium to stay in touch with them. We can frequently see their photos posted or we can text them or even call them for free. Similarly, Facebook can be used for killing boredom. We can use the Facebook on our leisure time. In Facebook, we can play games and watch videos and our friends’ photos. We can even upload our own photo and get likes and comments which is fun. Facebook is a really big website where people post advertisement. Yes, some businesses use Facebook to post their advertisements and because it a website that a lot of people visit, there is more chance to promote ones business than anywhere else. We can even find dates om Facebook because it has over 1 billion active users. There are a lot of examples where people have found their life partners or have made girlfriends.
