Isadora Duncan was an American pioneer of dance and strongly influenced both the arts and history. Over the course of her career, Duncan's style and choreography spread throughout America, Europe, and Russia. She broke away from structural ballet and experimented with free-spirited body movement. Most of the movements were inspired by the high ideals of ancient greece; beauty, philosophy, and humanity. She became a symbol of female longings through her costumes and dance. Isadora Duncan was the most influential dancer in history and is credited with revolutionizing a new way to dance called modern dance in the early 1900’s.
