On what Ishmael’s many violent experiences taught me about the consequences or aftereffects of violence was that it is inevitable. Even in the world that we live in today, violence stills occurs because of the people’s decisions of solving problems with harm. Ishmael stated, “What I have learned from my experiences is that revenge is not good. I joined the army to avenge the deaths of my family and to survive, but I’ve come to learn that if I am going to take revenge, in that process I will kill another person whose family will want revenge: then revenge and revenge and revenge will never come to an end…” [p.199] As for this quote from Ishmael, you can see that violence will stay with us until people realize that the harm of others is going to increase and without justice, you will have to face the bloody massacres of innocent lives dying in front of your sight. …show more content…
Ishmael also stated, “…and the problem that is affecting us children is the war that forces us to run away from our homes, lose our families, and aimlessly roam the forests. As a result, we get involved in the conflict as soldiers, carriers of loads, and in many other difficult tasks. All this is because of starvation, the loss of our families, and the need to feel safe and be part of something when all else has broken down.” [p.199] In this quote, it is upsetting that young innocent children that have not really had a life of their own are being forced into war to only survive. If they refuse to join, then they are dead on the spot or eventually die to travel on their own in the forbidden forests. That tells you that the world is both coming to an end with its humanity and this is what the world was meant to be and it finally came to the people unexpectedly.
