Have you ever wondered how Islam grew to become one of the largest religions in the world? Islam dates back to 610 C.E, when it was believed that the angel Gabriel visited Muhammad Ibn Abdallah to tell him of Allah, the one true God. As a mere merchant trader, Muhammad listened to Allah’s words for several years before going on to spread these words to the public. Eventually Islam developed, giving its followers the name Muslims, as well as Allah’s words being written down into a book called the Qur’an. [the transition between this sentence and the next is kinda choppy and doesn't flow well] Though Islam continued to face many difficulties, faithful Muslims stuck through and helped the religion expand vastly. Islam was able to spread quickly through trade, as Arabs continued military conquests, and because others found the messages appealing.

This could have came through ways of trading. Just like how items were traded, information can be passed along as well. As Arab merchants and traders traversed the many trade routes, they brought the idea of Islam along with them. According to a map of the trade routes in 570, the routes expand from Arabia, stretching out to Persia, Egypt, the Byzantine Empire, and eventually grow outwards from there. (Document A). The trade routes overtime, made their way to China, India, Africa, Spain, and to the rest of the world. “Mecca was … prosperous and important.” as stated in Document A. Mecca was also at the crossroad of the lucrative caravan trade routes and with so many people bustling in and out, Islam was exposed to many people who carried their new found knowledge of this religion back home with them.
