In The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi, Charlotte is put onto a ship full of men and a Murderous captain .She has to find a way to adapt to her circumstances and make it home without any incidents .She has to act as a man and become part of the crew. In the novel Island Of The Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell ,when Karana’s tribe leaves and her brother is still on her island she jumps off to go be with him. Ironically, a few days later Rontu dies from a pack of wild dogs. When she vows to kill all the wild dogs she ends up befriending 2 and claiming them as pets. Finally at the end of the novel the white men come back to the island
