“I don’t want a better little brother, Ender. I don’t want a Third”(2.45). Ender’s Game is a story about a six year old boy who is the Third of his family. He has a brother who is manipulative and cruel to everyone and a sister who is the only person who truly loves him and tries to protect him from Peter. Ender is chosen by Colonel Graff, in hope that he’s the one they’ve been waiting for, to help save mankind and defeat the buggers. The book Ender’s Game exceeds the movie because the book went into more detail about Peter's character, followed the plot in specific detail, and the characters’ personalities helped express the story.
The themes in Ender’s game make for a powerful. First of all, the theme of isolation was present throughout the story. For example, Colonel Graff puts Ender in isolation from the outside world when he went to battle school. Graff does this so that Ender will think for himself and not rely on support from anyone. To start with, the basic plot of Ender’s Game was the same, which worked well because it got the point across of what both stories were about. Also, Ender’s love for Valentine was portrayed in the movie, although in the book it was more prevalent. For example, in the movie there was a scene when Valentine came to see Ender because Colonel Graff wanted her to convince him to not quit and they ran up to each other and hugged. You could tell by the glowing expression on Ender’s face how much Valentine’s opinion meant to him. As a final point, Ender tries to outsmart the games he’s playing. Such as, in the movie Ender is playing a game on a tablet and he outsmarts the game by not choosing a pot of poison to put the rat in and instead he makes the rat attack the giant. These similarities work well because it makes the reader want to continue watching or
