Issues in Corporate Training Programs Training is used by many companies to achieve specific goals. Training is done in to help increase productivity by improving the abilities of the employees in their current positions. Having training programs that is effective allows the employees to produce more work in a timely manner. Training programs are used in companies to keep employees up- to- date in new technology, data websites, and other software that is useful for the company. Training is also used to help employees better understand the duties they are required to perform as well as teaching them the corporate culture and values. Issues that can come about with the training programs are lack of commitment from employees, some employees can feel that the constant training is not needed and tend to blow off the classes by texting, sleeping, or other sites that are not part of the training class. Another issue that may arise is lack of communication among management. These issues can be as simple as what training programs are needed and which employees should be involved with each training class. This lack of communication can result in feller because employees are not being train in the proper classes that can help them advance in the company. In order to correct the issue of employee commitment the training officer should find ways to make the classes interesting. Create activities that involved the employees; have them prepare presentation on their own that shows what they have learned. Correcting the issue with the management team is simply sitting down and discussing what new systems, technology, and software those employees need training on. Management should then meet with the officer–in –charge of training and set up the classes in order that they will not inter fear with the day to day work flow. Once these objectives have been set the next step is to develop the training program. The training officer will make up the schedule programs. Starting with the budget needed for the classes, where the classes will be held, and who will be the facilitators of each class. Once these things have been determine then we can determine who will be attending the classes can be decided. Approaches in training can become issues in order to avoid this the officer – in –charge can come up with methods that will be suited for each class. There are three approaches of training that can make classes easier to handle. The traditional approach, the experimental approach, and the performance approach (Gary Dessler, 1988). The Traditional approach having the training staff designed the objectives, the contents, the teaching techniques assignments, lesson plans, motivation, test, and evaluations. The traditional approach can be effective because the coast to the company is low. The experimental approach, deals with real or simulated situations in which the trainee will operate. This approach allows the objectives to be determined by both the trainer and the trainee. Here you have a senior employee guide a junior employee. The senior trainer, and the trainee will be in charge of the matters related for improvement. The performance – based approach is measured through achievement of a given level of skill or adeptness’ instead of passing grades of trainees. Once the approach has been determined then the training can start taking place. These classes will begin either through in – house – training, mentoring training, or external training. Once the classes begin the employees will be placed in a class that is best suited for them and that would most helpful for the company. Ongoing training can set a company apart and ahead from other companies. Employees are excited to work for places that will offer more than just a paycheck. They want to learn new skills, investing in the employees shows that the company is
