The topic I picked for my PowerPoint Presentation was the Italian and German Wars for Unification, and how they changed Europe for the rest of the 19th Century. Before the mid-19th Century, Germany and Italy were a collection of independent States and ever since the Napoleonic Wars, there was nationalist agitation for the peoples of Germany and Italy to unify into a single nation. Previous attempts for both regions to unify politically failed. The most recent attempt was during the Revolutions of 1848. I selected this topic because I feel that these wars were indirect causes of World War I, because WWI also revolved around nationalist sentiments, primarily in Italy as they desired more territory from Austria that Italy considered to be theirs. …show more content…
