Last Day

It was early in the morning when I feel someone trying to wake me up, I slowly open my eyes just to see my mother standing before me, her eyes are bloodshot and she has bags under her eyes, probably because of the little rest we all got last night, "Get dressed" she says, "We need to go to the airport soon" I nod and tell her to give me a few minutes to get myself ready. I turn around and see my little cousin sleeping peacefully besides me, I smile to myself remembering how adamant she was about wanting to stay the night over so she could say goodbye at me at the airport. I softly tap on her shoulder to wake her up, she's a light sleeper so she wakes up almost immediately. "Get ready, we're leaving soon" I mumble before making my way to the bathroom. It only takes us around fifteen minutes to be ready and other ten minutes to have all my luggage in the trunk, when we are all inside the car I take one last look at my house and let my eyes linger for a while there before blowing out a breath. "Are you ready?" I hear my father ask. "I'm ready" I reply.
The moment we arrive to the airport I take my cousins hand in mine and guide her to the airport entrance, we are supposed to wait here for my parents while they're parking the car. She's unusually quiet and looking down the floor, so I cup her chin in my hand and tilt it up, when I look at her face, tears are spilling from her eyes and running down her cheeks, she's usually a tough kid, so it takes me by surprise to actually see her cry, I rub the tears away with my thumb and ask her what's wrong, "I don’t want you to leave" she murmurs as she wraps her little arms around my waist to pull me into a hug. I try my hardest not to cry because I know if I do she’s not going to calm down. We stay in that position until I slowly pull back and tell her not to be sad. "We are going to see each other real soon" I reassure her. Minutes after checking in, we’re all sitting in a small café waiting for our breakfast to be served, I look at my mom and notice she's trying not to cry, "Mom, are you going to cry because you're favorite daughter is going to leave?" I joke. She lets out a laugh and with an amused expression on her face tells me not to be stupid, that she's just a bit emotional. We stay there chatting and eating our breakfast when we hear my flight number being announced through the speakers saying is time to board. I glance down at the watch and sigh, it's time to bid my family goodbye.
Saying goodbye to my dad isn't difficult, not because we're not close or anything, we're in fact, pretty close, but I'm going to see him again in a few days so I give him a brief hug and tell him I'll see him soon. Now, saying goodbye to my mom is a different story, I hug her and bury my head in the
