18 December 2015 Jack the Savage Hunter Jack Merridew used to be an innocent character in the novel Lord of the Flies.
As the British boys were on the island for a long time, Jack became a different person. Becoming the hunter of the group, Jack became the savage of the group. In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Jack Merridew is a savage like character because of his appearance, actions, and thoughts. To begin, Jack’s appearance proves he is a savage character. He would go his own way and would prefer things to go his way. From the start, he was a great character to begin with, but later on in the story, he became the character that wanted things to go his way and a little controlling. He never seen eye-to-eye with Ralph another boy who became chief of the group.

He would prefer to go hunting then staying around helping out with making shelters and gathering things for the group. Later on in the story, Jack basically took care of himself. The hunting life was all he wanted. Hunting was always his dream to do it. Now since he hunts for animals, Jack feels like nothing can stop him. Jack wears his heart on his sleeves. By meaning that, he does not have any emotion when the hunters and himself killed Simon and did not have any regrets. He never cared much for the shy boy.
