Jack the Ripper or Jill the Ripper? Could a deranged midwife be responsible for the Jack the Ripper murders? Could it be the perfect plan? No one would suspect a midwife to be the culprit for the mutilations of the victims. While some people began to immediately blame a number of male suspects, everyone overlooked the possibility of a female being the murder. Later, people began taking the possibility into consideration. Many investigators and police had their hands tied in London due to the immense amount of pressure from the public and the slyness of the culprit. She began seeing a man named Frank Hogg who was seeing a woman whose name was Phoebe (“Jill the Ripper”). Soon Mary learned that Phoebe was pregnant she insisted that Frank marry her for the sake of the child (“Jill the Ripper”). Although Mary still was interested in Frank she knew that it was morally right for her to let him marry Phoebe. But after being in a relationship with Frank, she became jealous of Phoebe. After Frank and Phoebe got married he still had continued a sexual relationship with Mary (“Jill the Ripper”). It was said that the women knew of each other and even remained friends according to their neighbors (“Jill the Ripper”). Mary clearly did not want to share Frank any longer for what soon happened. On October 24th Mary was seen by many neighbors pushing a baby’s carriage down the road (“Jill the Ripper”). Everyone knew that Mary did not have a child and that she did not have a part time job as a baby sitter either. So many wondered whose baby Mary had been pushing that day. It was soon to be figured out. The next day a woman and a baby were found in a pile of garbage in Hampstead with a bloody baby carriage nearby (“Jill the Ripper”). The bodies were soon identified as Phoebe Hogg and her child (“Jill the Ripper”). All of the people that saw Mary the day before knew exactly who the killer was. Because Mary was being suspicious the day before. Citizens soon the tipped off the police about Mary pushing that same baby carriage down the street the day before (“Jill the Ripper”). This was key because there was very little evidence at the crime scene itself. The police then went to Mary’s house to discover a horrific scene; there were blood splatters all over the kitchen walls, several items of clothes, fireplace poker, and a knife (“Jill the Ripper”).
