“A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” (Jackie Robinson) Jackie Robinson was born in Cairo, Georgia but he grew up in Pasadena, California. (The Early Years) Jackie Robinson is known as the first african american to play baseball; he got there because of his education, his involvement in the military, and is unforgettable major league career. Jackie enrolled into the military and was kicked out because of discriminating comments he retaliated on.(Back-Seat Rebel) Jackie grew up and played five sports for his high school then three for UCLA and then dropped out because they couldn’t afford it and his parents needed help at home. The driver said “Listen, you, I said get to the back of the bus where the colored people belong.” Jackie then said “Listen to me, buddy; you just drive the bus and I’ll sit where I please. The Army recently issued orders that there is to be no more racial segregation on any Army post. After playing in the negro leagues he caught some people's eyes and Branch Rickey decided to draft him in 1947.“ On April 15, 1947, Robinson broke the decades-old colour bar of Major League Baseball when he appeared on the field for the National League Brooklyn Dodgers.”(Jackie
