Yes, both Jacobs and Douglass reflect some of the same viewpoints. They both suggest that slavery corrupts both the slaves and their owners. They also, overcome the forces of slavery before gaining freedom. In both narratives it mentions the harsh conditions that they experienced. I believe, Douglass and Jacobs wanted to bring awareness of the helplessness that the slaves endure before slavery is abolished.
