Boyer College of Music and Dance is proud to have such gifted and committed instrumentalist from The Philadelphia Orchestra to develop aspiring musicians to acquire the necessary skills to become an innovative, talented, and intense performer. Currently, over 30 adjunct faculty of the college participates in the all string ensemble that provides rich, melodic textures on and off stage.
Throughout the main season, September – May, The Philadelphia Orchestra resides at the Jimmy Kimmel Center and host concerts at the Mann Center during summer months. The orchestra performs, not only in Philadelphia, but across the region ornamenting stages and audiences with harmonies from skilled flutist, oboist, percussionist, clarinetist, timpanist and hornist. The orchestra sustains many traditions by providing community engagement opportunities to ensure that children and adults can, personally, experience and have access to educational music enrichment. Also, these exceptional musicians dedicate their summers expanding their community involvement and maintaining international connections through concerts, research, instruction, and adjudication.
