In the song "Can I Be Him", James Arthur expresses how he has a crush on a woman and feels whole inside when he hears her sing. While he listens and watches her, he yearns to be the guy she's singing about. Furthermore, in "Can I Be Him", James Arthur is showing his hope, vulnerability, and jealousy when it comes to the possibility of love.
