James Baldwin a man of character, a man with heart and a man with bravery beyond most men who are recognized in American history. This is why I was amazed this symposium and a recent essay I read by him were the first time I have heard of this great man. There are multiple achievements that James Baldwin has completed, not only was he an activist he was a successful book writer, he has written highly regarded essays, he also had multiple television and radio appearances. He did all this when it was against the law for African Americans to do the same thing as white people.
