James E. livingston was a marine who served in the Vietnam war and the Cold war. He was the captain of the marines sent to secure the Village of Dai Do republic of Vietnam. He was born on on the month of January 1940,today he is 77 years old and lives a happy life. On May 14,1970, he was issued the Medal of Honor,the highest ranked metal u can get in the service.

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity and the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as commanding officer,Company E,in action against enemy forces. Conpany E launched a determined assault on the heavily fortified village of Dai Do,which had been siezed by the enemy on the proceeding evening isolating a marine company from the remainder of the battalion. Skillfully employing screening agents Capt. livingston maneuvered his men to assault positions across 500 meters of dangerous open rice patty while under intense enemy fire. Ignoring hostile rounds impacting near him he fearlessly led his men to a savage assault against enemy emplacements within the village. While adjusting supporting arms fire Capt. livingston moved to the points of the heaviest resistance,shouting words of encouragement to his marines ,directing their fire,and spurring the dwindling momentum of attack on repeated occasions.
