In James Howe “Everything Will Be Okay” James Howe is an admirable character because, he's very caring towards animals, he tries to help and save Smokey the kitten,and he never wants to kill any animals. In the beginning of the story James finds a kitten who has pus coming from it’s eyes and is missing most of it’s hair. In the middle of the story James is sitting on his front porch waiting for his older brother Paul to come pick up him and Smokey to take them to the vet. In the end of of the story Smokey was put to sleep and James is very sad and James says “I will never work for Dr.Milk. I will never go hunting with my father. I will choose James is very caring towards animals because, in the beginning James found a small kitten that had…show more content… At the very end of the story, after Smokey has been put to sleep, the last two sentences say “I will never work for Dr.Milk” and “I will never go hunting with my father.” The first quote “I will never work for Dr.Milk” is James saying that he never wants to put an animal down or never wants an animal to die under his watch as a vet because his brothers have worked as a vet for Dr.Milk and had to put down an animal before. Also the first quote is also saying that he would not harm an animal by being a vet. Then the second quote “I will never go hunting with my father” is James also saying that he would rather save animals rather than killing them. The second quote is also saying that he would hate to be the one responsible for shooting an animal and killing it.
