Wind whipping furiously and ice blanketing everything before you can blink. The Edmund Fitzgerald is sinking off the coast of Lake Michigan while in the little sleepy town of Marshall many men, including James Marion Whipple, are fighting a fire ablaze. James Whipple at this point had been a firefighter for 6 years. He had first decided that this would be his career path after watching what a fire could really do. James Whipple, my grandfather, has been my hero since day one. He has shown me that doing what you believe in and kindness are the most important things in life. He has shown me love and kindness by making sure everyone always had someone there for them and support them, by doing whatever he believed was right, and always helping others.
First of all,he has shown me that you always needed to be there for people. You need to support them and show them kindness and love no matter the situation. He has always been there for me when I needed someone to talk to or someone to help me throughout my whole life. My grandfather loves his family greatly. Supporting them throughout hard times and the better times in life. Even though my grandfather never knew his real parents, due to being adopted when he was fourteen months old, he knows only unconditional love and that’s all he ever has

He believes that every person is equal to the next. No person should be, or deserves to be treated differently just due to the fact that they look, speak or think different then you do.
