Never give up, because although bullying may seem like it will never end, there is always hope. Have you ever been bullied? Jamie Nabozny had been harassed throughout his entire life. Ever since he had become open about his sexual orientation around the seventh grade, his classmates would bother him; they would kick his books out of his hands, and call him ignorant and disrespectful names. Things escalated when Nabozny entered high school. He preferred to arrive at school early and complete schoolwork so he would not have to confront classmates on the way to school. In the beginning he was peacefully sitting in the hallway working; and the next, he had to be rushed to the hospital from repeated kicking which caused multiple bruises and wounds. Along these years of torment, Nabozny found it very challenging to find help in his small Wisconsin town. He almost gave in multiple times, escaping from home or attempting to commit suicide. Nabozny began to be pestered in seventh grade; he had never been very transparent with his sexual orientation, but his classmates began to decode him. There was a specific group of students that would tease him and call him names, however that was only the beginning; as he grew older and attended high school, he would get to school as early as it was open and sit in a corner, with the hopes that he would go unnoticed. However, one day, he was found. A group of students discovered his hiding place in the halls and forced him to fight. When Jamie declined, they kicked his books out of his hands and gave him such severe injuries that he was rushed to the hospital with many cuts and bruises. This was the type of torment Nabozny suffered day-to-day, throughout these six years of school. There was constantly another thing Nabozny would have to deal with because of bullying.
