Japan Culture Vs American Culture

This week’s reading about Japan and America’s history of the food, artwork, culture, and religion was so engrossing. As I read it is detailed in the timeline, and how certain things came about. The beginning of human presence in Japan was similar to what I had read in chapter one about the Paleolithic period, and how they started out with simple pottery made from functional earthenware for every day necessities. I would assume they used the pottery to hold water and food in them, like bowls and glasses we have now. As far as how America came about it too had a very similar start as Japan. America was around during the Paleolithic era and lived off of things like plants, corn, beans, and squash (pg. 384). The Section of Night attack on the Sanjo Palace was filled with flames and destruction. Even back then many viewed war as this picture depicts. When I think of the war the United States is currently in this is like what I envision. The Descent of Amida and the twenty-five Bodhisattvas depicts Amida and 25 bodhisattvas descending over the mountains (pg. 379). When I look at this painting I see the golden path as a safe place . This is where they are trying to escaping to from the dark treacherous mountains. During this period it seems like the people are trying to escape the many battles against them.
