Feudal Japan was a time period in Japanese history lasting around 700 years. It was during this period when powerful families, military, samurai, and economy ruled Japan. This period had many wars and it was one of the most powerful empires in the world. Surprisingly, emperors did not hold majority of the power and was instead controlled by the military. Despite this, most of the success in Japan was fueled by its’ powerful Economy. Feudal Japan’s success was wrapped around its economy, specifically around the merchants, jobs and systems that helped it to grow, thrive, and develop.

The Class system and Feudal system organized the economy allowing it to thrive, grow, and develop. “Feudalism is the dominant social system in medieval Europe, in which the nobility held lands from the Crown in exchange for military service, and vassals were in turn tenants of the nobles, while the peasants (villeins or serfs) were obliged to live on their lord's land and give him homage, labor, and a share of the produce, notionally in exchange for military protection.” (Feudalism). The Japanese Feudal system allowed for power to be distributed instead of the power being only within the hands of the emperor's. This Feudal period was dominated by by powerful families and military warlords, who controlled the Economy. The emperor was a just a figure who held no true power. The Feudal system was organized around the four-tiered class system (Chegg). The entire economy and success of Feudal Japan was built around the well developed four-tiered class system. The highest of power within the Caste system were of the military portion, despite only making up 10% of the population they held the most power. Underneath the military ladder of the Caste system were the Farmers or Peasants. They were superior to artisans and merchants because they produced food that all other classes depended on. Merchants were able to connect economies and make Japan a interest to other economies. The society within the economy was important to fill up job slots and have jobs get done within Japan. The Feudal System and Caste System were what connected all aspects of the economy together and tied it up. Japan was very successful due to many reasons, but most importantly because of the economy it created. Having a successful economy will boost all other aspects of a civilization because it ties everything together. Without a proper economy, a civilization will not have a strong foundation and is unlikely to be successful. A successful economy needs to provide the most essential elements in order to allow a civilization to successfully grow, thrive and
