In an article by Jared Diamond, Diamond says “The Neolithic Revolution was a fundamental change in the way people lived. The shift from hunting & gathering to agriculture led to permanent settlements, the establishment of social classes, and the eventual rise of civilizations.” This means that the Neolithic Revolution was a significant change to the lifestyle of humans. It was a change from hunting and gathering to farming and agriculture. This shift led to permanent settlements, the rise of civilization and the establishment of social classes. The establishment of social classes, and division of wealth are just two reasons why the Neolithic Revolution was one of the worst choices in human history.

During the Neolithic Revolution, social class divisions developed. It is said that “a person's social class was usually determined by the work they did” (Watkins). Many careers such as farming, priest, king, warrior, blacksmith, craftsmen, and more were an example of how the social class was divided. The different careers are what placed a person's social status in a rank of the social class. This caused many people to be treated differently and looked at differently in the public eye.

One example of a positive impact is the division of labor. This was a beneficial impact because if the labor was divided, each person will do their own task and be good at it. Then later as a community, the services can be exchanged from one another. This was beneficial and still is used today. Although this was a beneficial contribution, this was also a harmful contribution. This is because now that the labor is divided, each person has their own role in a community.
