In today's society, why do we only remember a few Hollywood icons that were famous in the 1930s to the 1960s? Is it because of their legacy had a bigger impact on society? Did they influence more people than the rest of the icons? Why should we only remember a few icons when we should remember more of them? Since they are Hollywood icons they had some sort of impact on society back then which changed today's society. Most of us only know the most common icons like John Wayne, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn etc. But do we even know the other icons that had an impact on society like Harlean Carpenter or you might know her as Jean Harlow. Even though she lived a short life and died at the age of 26 years old, she still has a legacy. Jean Harlow’s legacy is different than any other Hollywood icon. Her legacy lives on throughout others that are known as a “blonde bombshell.” Without Jean being the first actress to be known as a “bombshell” there wouldn’t have been other “bombshell’s” after her like Marilyn Monroe. Jean Harlow changed how women actress act today. She made a difference back then that might of seemed out of the ordinary and not how a normal women actress would act back then. The audience didn’t like how she acted but then they grew to love it. It was different and people fell in love with her platinum hair and how she was a “bombshell.” In today’s society more and more movies have some screen siren in it or a sex symbol. She changed how women act today. She influenced them back then and today to e different and to know it is acceptable to be a sex symbol. I know in today’s society there are more and more people being known as a se symbol. In today’s society .you see someone like Jennifer Lawrence who dies her hair blonde and is known as a sex symbol. You also see Gwen Stefani as a blonde, sex symbol too, Both of Jennifer and Gwen have blonde hair and is known to be a sex symbol. Since she did die at a young age her legacy is different. If she lived longer than 26 her legacy might be different than what it is today. She would be more known like Marilyn
