At times Scout can be so simple minded and not think. I came home from a long day at school and found Scout on the porch chewing a wad of gum. I could tell it was gum because she has a distinct way of chewing gum it’s not like the way she chews other things, its louder with an irritating sound of her constantly smacking her lips. So casually I asked her where she got it, in which she responded she found it. I immediately told her to spit it out, I thought of all the disgusting germs that could be on it. I told her that we don’t eat things we find on the ground, to which she replied “I didn’t find it on the ground, I found it in the tree by the Radley’s place”. I put an expression on my face that clearly communicated to her that I didn't think she was funny. I told scout that she should know better than to eat something that came from the Radley place and that she could die. She then tried to negate this, and compared the gum to the time I touched the Radley place. I told her to spit out the gum immediately, to which surprisingly she did with little resistance. I think she did this so easily because she knew I could tell Calpurnia and simply get her to solve this problem. Although she spit out the gum, I wasn’t satisfied I felt that just in case the gum really was deadly, she should disinfect her mouth.
