Jeremiah Wilson
Jeremiah is the child this writer has chosen to focus on for my course project. The decision was based on Jeremiah because he is a reflection of many children I have worked with in the past and present.
He appears to be a bright, energetic boy typical for his age besides the difficulties he has with remaining on task and emotion regulation. The writer does not believe the increased level of physical activity is problematic at the time, but does have suspicions that the difficulties he has in emotion regulation may be the basis for his need to be active. It may be a way for him to express emotions he has yet to understand, has been taught or has developed. Ecological Systems Theory Ecological Systems Theory was developed by Urie Bronfenbrenner. Bronfenbrenner suggested that an individual’s development was influenced by their environments. He grouped the environment he suggests into five levels: the microsystem, the mesosystem, the exosystem, the macrosystem, and the chronosystem, all which influence development simultaneously. This writer will attempt to show how these different systems are affecting Jeremiah’s development at this time.

His main caregivers are absent physically, and emotionally. It is possible Jeremiah is not getting enough stimulation in the microsystem to properly develop the skills he needs to achieve in the school setting. In the mesosystem is where the real difficulties Jeremiah struggles with comes into play.
