Have you ever thought about what the meaning of life was? Was it ever just a tiny question that had so much meaning? In the novel Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life by Wendy Mass, Jeremy Fink and his best friend Lizzy Muldoun is faced with a box, that Jeremy’s father left behind for him and through the up’s and downs, they eventually find what is in the box. The poem “Do Not Stand By My Grave And Weep” By Mary Frye, is about a person who has lost someone in their life and they person who passed away is telling that person to do not stand by their grave and cry. Furthermore, Mass and Frye convey the message of people that passed are always with you even if they are not really standing there, through the use of metaphors and repetition. …show more content…
The quote “ A fight is going on inside me” (pg.271) is a great example on how the Mass convey a message using metaphors because the fight that going on inside that person is a way of saying that they are always there but the have to fight to be with you always. The quote “I am the diamond glints on snow.”(line 4) is a prime example on how Frye uses metaphors to get the message through because she is saying that the person who has passed is always with them and that they are everywhere. The importance of the passage is to tell you how both authors use metaphors to get the message of people that passed are always with you even if they are not really standing
