A field observation at Jersey Garden Mall conducted on March, 30th resulted in a crowded food court with a diverse population filling all the tables, communicating face to face, on cell phones, and eating the food purchased at a variety of fast food restaurants. Some of the restaurants were a pizza selection, Chinese food, Burger King, Popeye’s, Ice cream stand, Annie’s Pretzels, and Nathaniel’s. All of the food selections consisted of a long line of customers deciding on what to purchase. The pizza stand appeared to have the most customers waiting to purchase while the staff seemed to be at ease rending services to the people in line. While sitting at the one of the table waiting for the lines to subside, I noticed that the filled food court tables consisted of a groups of friends, some family members, children running through the tables playing, and some people ate alone. In addition to observing the crowd of people in line, it seems as though some people were undecided about what they wanted to purchase. Meanwhile, it was obvious to see that some of the waiting customers became frustrated while waiting for the person in front of them to decide what they wanted to eat. …show more content…
Some people spoke really loud above the crowded food court, others did not speak at all, but focused on their cell phones. Others were taken pictures, laughing amongst one another, a couple fed each other from their own plate. The children appeared to be carefree, playing and laughing. A few parents tried to control the running around of the smaller children, gently yanking them closer to them, some parents yelled at the children to sit down, and of course, they thought it was funny and kept running ignoring the orders of the yelling
